What is the dual plane method for silicone implants?
The Dual Plane is a revolutionary technique for silicone breast implants that was published and introduced by the American plastic surgeon, John Tebbetts. Since adopting this technique at our clinic, we have observed several proven benefits among our patients who underwent breast augmentation. Before we take a more in-depth look at the technique, let us first review breast structure. The breast is composed of tissue — which includes skin, fat, and muscle — and the mammary gland. In a traditional breast implant, the silicone prosthesis is positioned below or above the muscle. Using the Dual Plane technique, the silicone prothesis is positioned between the two layers of the muscle. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? But this small difference between the Dual Plane and traditional technique changes the whole experience for the better.
Is the dual plane technique right for you?
The Dual Plane method is appropriate for women with low grade breast droop, which constitutes of about 2 centimeters of fat tissue in the breasts. This can be checked if you “pinch” the breast just above the nipple.
